Amongst Translators is a collective of independent translators and revisers that pools the strengths and expertise of experienced, full-time freelance professionals.
Unlike traditional 'full-service' translation agencies, we do not have the overheads that come with administrative staff, project managers, marketing people, etc.
What’s in it for you? Simple: translations of the exact same quality you would get from any of the major translation agencies but at a more affordable rate.
In addition our solution has the added advantage that every text will be checked by two experienced sworn translators, membre of the Belgian Chamber of Translators and Interpreters and 1 person that speaks your language will manage all your requests.
Our services include:
- Quality translations of all your documents
- Sworn translations: In some cases (qualifications and diplomas, birth, marriage and death certificates, divorce certificates, etc. all depending on the requirements of the country of destination or your intended purpose) you may need a sworn print-out of your translation. In which case we not only send you the translated document by e-mail, we print it off, swear it and return the sworn version to you by regular post.
- Legalised translations: In other cases still (last wills and testaments, company articles of association involving parties abroad, etc. all depending on the requirements of the country of destination or your intended purpose) and depending on the purpose you need the translation for, you may need to have your sworn translation authenticated or ‘legalised’ as it is referred to in Belgium, as a further step in the formalisation process.
This sees us take the sworn print-out of your translation into the Court Registry of the Court where we have been sworn in. The Court Registry in turn applies several official stamps and the Court Registrar’s signature authenticating that our signature is indeed our signature as official court-assigned translators.
- Proofreading & Revisions: We are available to translate your text as well check over your own translation effort prior to publication. Proofreading is the simplest way of checking a piece of copy. In fact, both translated and non-translated documents often benefit greatly from being proofread.
Revisions go well beyond proofreading. Here, the translated text is checked word by word, sentence by sentence against the source text, making sure the two versions match in their entirety in terms of content. Additionally, a specialist reviser will check to see if the right terminology is used, if none of the acronyms have been left untranslated, if the headers and footers have been duly adapted, figures and tables have been accurately copied and if no sections of text have been omitted or left untranslated.
